Welcome to the Alpert Medical School of Brown University Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Program!

As your Internal Medicine Chief Residents we want to welcome you to Providence and the Alpert Medical School affiliated hospitals. We are very excited that you have chosen to train with us, and we hope that you are looking forward to what will inevitably be four interesting, challenging and, of course, fun years.

One of our first jobs as Chief Medical Residents is to create the monthly rotation schedule for the upcoming year. The purpose of this letter is to enable you to make some specific schedule requests.

  1. Electives: All Med-Peds interns may select one elective rotation which will occur during your time rotating with the Medicine department. Many of the electives are inpatient consult services working with the subspecialty fellows and attendings. However, residents have certainly chosen outpatient electives with subspecialists in their private offices. Here is an outline of available activities, separated by sub-specialty, as well as inpatient or outpatient:

  2. Spouses and Significant Others: As best we are able, we try to coordinate the schedules of spouses and significant others who are both in Brown University residency programs. Please let us know if you have matched with a significant other/spouse, and indicate their department.

There are 144 Internal Medicine and Medicine-Pediatrics interns and residents working at four hospitals in many different capacities. We make every effort to accommodate each resident's personal needs, and we try to make schedule adjustments as necessary throughout the year. So, please...
