Welcome to the Alpert Medical School of Brown University General Internal Medicine Residency Program!

As your Chief Residents we want to welcome you to Providence and the Alpert Medical School affiliated hospitals. We are very excited that you have chosen to train with us, and we hope that you are looking forward to what will inevitably be three interesting, challenging and, of course, fun years.

As we begin to create the monthly rotation schedule for the upcoming year, we wanted to share some GIM-specific information with you about vacation time.

All interns receive three weeks of vacation. For GIM interns, all three vacation weeks are during Ambulatory Block.

Please review the below 2 choices and their corresponding vacation weeks. Then, indicate your block group preference in the form below. If you have no preference, please indicate that in the form.

  1. PGY 1A Block Group will have block in September, January and April with the below vacations:

September: Tuesday, September 2nd - Monday, September 8th
January: Tuesday, January 20th - Monday, January 26th
April: Monday, April 20th - Friday, April 24th

  2. PGY 1B Block Group will have block in October, February and May with the below vacations:

October: Monday, October 6th - Friday October 10th
February: Monday, February 17th - Friday February 23rd
May: Monday, May 18th - Friday, May 22nd

There are five interns assigned to each block group and you have no call responsibilities that month. Additionally, all interns get the last week in June off at the end of internship.

Spouses and Significant Others: As best we are able, we try to coordinate the schedules of spouses and significant others who are together in Brown Residency Programs. Please let us know if you have matched with a significant other.
